Future Priorities:

Urban Rugby

As part of the Hard Rock Café East London project, coaches will be delivering a modified version of rugby league within Hackney and Newham as a way of engaging more young people in structured sporting activity.

This delivery will take place in youth clubs, housing estates and will work in partnership with Street Games.

Schools Coaching

Secondary schools within Barking & Dagenham, Greenwich, Hackney and Newham will have opportunities to access free rugby league coaching for both boys and girls in the lead up to the East London rounds of the national Champion Schools competition, which will be taking place from November 2011.

There will also be opportunities for primary schools to become involved in Tag Rugby during 2012.

New Rugby League Club in Newham

As part of the drive to provide young people aged 12-25 with more opportunities to play rugby league in East London, a new junior club will be formed in Newham and will initially cater for U12s and U14s.

This club will provide a high quality environment for young people to take part in regular competition throughout the summer and develop their skills in the game of rugby league.

Touch Rugby

Throughout Spring/Summer 2012, an East London touch rugby league will run to engage adults in a fun and exciting version of rugby league without the fear of injury that comes with a contact sport!

This league will cater for all abilities from complete beginners to those who have played rugby competitively before. Two 8 week leagues will allow teams to develop their skills in a social competition, whilst keeping fit throughout the summer months.
